The Last Right combines the elements of a road trip, coming-of-age, and family drama with a uniquely Irish approach to comedy and tragedy. The ensemble cast delivers strong performances, particularly Samuel Bottomley, who impressively handles the nuances of his character’s Cork accent and autism portrayal. Niamh Algar shines as the energetic Mary, and Michiel Huisman adeptly navigates the lead role. While the film has its charming moments and offers beautiful visuals of Ireland, it occasionally struggles with pacing and tone. It attempts to balance humor with emotional depth, sometimes veering into cliché territory. However, it remains an enjoyable watch for those appreciating Irish cinema’s distinct blend of heart and humor.
