Replicant, while not groundbreaking in its narrative, offers an intriguing premise with a mix of action and science fiction elements. Jean-Claude Van Damme’s performance in a dual role adds a layer of complexity to the movie, although the execution at times feels lacking in depth. The concept of cloning for criminal justice purposes raises ethical questions, making the movie somewhat thought-provoking. However, some critics and audiences felt that the potential of the premise was not fully realized, leading to mixed reviews. Despite its flaws, “Replicant” provides enough entertainment for fans of the genre, particularly those interested in Van Damme’s filmography.
