This sequel to the groundbreaking “The Blair Witch Project” revisits the ominous woods of Burkittsville, Maryland. James, brother of the original film’s Heather, discovers a video online that hints at his sister’s whereabouts. Convinced she might still be alive, he and a group of friends venture into the Black Hills Forest. Our Review

“Blair Witch” tries to recapture the raw intensity of the original, and while it does succeed at moments, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of its predecessor. The decision to stick with the found-footage format feels appropriate, though the film relies a bit too heavily on jump scares. The performances are solid, and the tension is palpable throughout. The film’s modern tech twist adds a fresh element. Still, in trying to emulate the original’s success, it sometimes loses its distinct voice.
